Bill Withers was a legendary American singer-songwriter and musician.  He is known for such hit songs as “Ain’t No Sunshine,””Lean On Me,” Just The Two Of Us,” “Lovely Day,” and more.  He has received numerous awards in his lifetime and won three Grammy Awards.  In 2005, Withers was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in 2015, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Book Synopsis
“Grandma’s Hands” is a timeless, universal song originally featured on Bill Withers’ 1971 album, Just As I Am. With soulful lyrics, the song captures the significant impact that Withers’ grandmother had on his life as a child. Multiple award-winning artist R. Gregory Christie has brought the iconic song to life through vibrant illustrations, painting a tender portrait of Bill’s grandmother. Through the illustrations, readers are transported back in time to experience the comfort, security, and unconditional love that he found in his grandmother’s hands. A heartwarming tribute to the enduring bond between grandmothers and their grandchildren, “Grandma’s Hands” represents how the simple acts of care and affection during childhood can leave an indelible mark for a lifetime.
Kori Withers Bio
KORI WITHERS is an accomplished singer-songwriter and the daughter of Bill Withers. She began writing her first songs as a teenager. Kori graduated from Columbia University (BA) and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (MFA, Musical Theatre Writing). As a guest of her father, she has performed at events with legends Marilyn and Alan Bergman, Hal David, and Charles Fox, as well as with contemporary artists Aloe Blacc, Gregory Porter and Ed Sheeran.  She was a featured artist on Booker T. Jones’ Sound the Alarm LP and performed as a special guest on his Blue Note Tokyo Tour. She was a special guest of Jose James on his Lean On Me: Bill Withers Tribute Tour. Co-writing credits include “Live Like A Warrior” by Matisyahu and “Don’t Worry” by Judith Hill. A few personal highlights for Kori were performing with her father at his Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction (2006) and at Oprah Winfrey’s “Legends Who Paved The Way Gospel Brunch” (2015).  Kori currently serves on the board of FreeHorse Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating nature-based arts education for people with diverse abilities.
Marcia Withers Bio
MARCIA WITHERS is the wife of the late music icon singer/songwriter Bill Withers. She oversaw Bill’s career management and as head of Withers Entertainment and the Mattie Music Group in Los Angeles, she controls the family’s publishing companies, and its worldwide sub-publisher representatives. She has been instrumental in the placement of Bill’s songs in countless films, television programs and other media, and played a creative role in many of Bill’s recording compilations. She is the co-producer of The Essential Bill Withers and a tribute show at Carnegie Hall in 2015. Marcia is a graduate of the UCLA Graduate School of Management (now Anderson School of Management) and previously worked for Management III and Concerts West. A supporter of charitable causes and board member of the Stuttering Association for the Young (SAY), she was married to Bill for 43 years. The Withers’ have two children, Todd and Kori.
