Good News is shared by Army Reserve Colonel Andrew Sinelli, Commander, 301st Forward Engineer Support Team-Main,
National Engineers Week gets underway on February 19th – which coincides with the birthday of President George Washington – America’s first engineer. It is also a time to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills. Observances like this help ensure a diverse workforce by increasing understand of and interest in engineering careers.
Engineers play a crucial role in the growth and welfare of the nation by solving the toughest engineering challenges. With sustainability as a guiding principle, engineers work to strengthen the nation’s security by building and maintaining America’s water resources infrastructure and providing military facilities where service members train, work and live.
Learn more about engineering roles – especially in the Army Reserve– during this important segment.
National Engineers Week calls attention to the significant contributions of engineers at our nation’ stop organizations, including the U.S. Army Reserve. Engineers play a vital role in the growth and welfare of the nation by solving the toughest challenges. With sustainability as a guiding principle, Army Reserve engineers work to strengthen the nation’s resilience by building and maintaining infrastructure and water resources.
With roots dating back to the American Revolution in 1778, the Army continues to prioritize engineering and innovation at home and abroad. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is researching and developing technology for our Soldiers stationed in other countries. These Soldiers are also using their expertise to protect and restore America’s environment including critical efforts in the Everglades, the Louisiana coast, and along many of our nation’s major waterways. Army Reserve Soldiers have the advantage of bringing unique civilian skills such as small business management and advanced engineering degrees to the job, making them particularly well-suited for emergency and disaster response.
Engineering roles are critical positions within all military branches, especially the Army Reserve. Observances like National Engineers Week help ensure a diverse workforce by raising awareness and understanding of and generating interest in engineering careers.
