Michael’s mother always said, “Life is a gift, so go out and celebrate.” He believes that music sets the event in motion and every song must have a positive emotional impact at the right volume.
East End Entertainment’s owner is celebrating over 30 years in the business. Our fun tunes continue to make people smile, sing and dance.
Music Foundation:
Growing up Michael enjoyed a variety of music as part of his daily family life. Beginning with the radio, moving to records, CDs, and eventually MP3s, he familiarized himself with music from American Standards, Doo-Wop, Motown, Disco, Rock, pop, EDM, and hip-hop. His goals has always been to provide a sophisticated fun approach to the music that is unique to the event’s host.
College Start:
It all began in the fall of 1991, when Michael was earning his bachelor’s degree at SUNY Cortland. Michael practiced being a DJ at a Cortland College bar on Wednesdays, an hour prior to opening. When the regular DJ failed out in January 1992, Michael was offered his first professional opportunity to spin the tunes. Before each DJ shift, he lugged his milk crate with about 100 CDs, from the top of the hill to downtown Cortland. (Now he has over 100,000 MP3’s on a mini external hard drive). The elevated, enclosed DJ booth had 2 Sony Discman’s, a basic 2 channel Radio Shack mixer, and a wired microphone. It was not high tech, but it was Michael’s sanctuary.
In the Hamptons:
During the Summer of 1993, he made his Hamptons debut at Dockers Waterside. Michael was encouraged by Larry Hoffman, owner of Dockers, to motivate the crowd through music and not over the microphone. This advice inspired his unique style that is sophisticated and fun. In the mid 90’s, he went on to mix dance classics from the 70’s and 80’s in the Classic Lounge, at the legendary Canoe Place Inn (CPI), in Hampton Bays.
Today:
Since then East End Entertainment, has steadily expanded to offer a variety of amazing options including: Live DJ combos, musicians, bands, wireless speakers, lighting, photo booths, flat screens and karaoke. The success of East End Entertainment is the result of an amazingly talented staff, loyal clients, and a network of wonderful event professionals.
East End Entertainment continues to service the Hamptons, North Fork, Montauk and Shelter Island and the entire tri-state area.
