The book Q&A
Sephardic Soul + pals
Our “Hot Jewish Hanukkah” launch party in NYC on Tuesday was a success! We served cocktails inspired by the “Latke Sutra” in the book (the ‘Sufganiyot Squirt’ was a hit), danced with DJ Lady Blaga, and met so many people including influencers and cast members from the book. It was a lot of work, but so worth it, and Michael and I both enjoyed every minute celebrating and talking about our huge project with such a kind and supportive group of people. Shoutout to everyone who helped make it happen (our friends, family, volunteer Briyah Paley, moderator Lily Lester, and photographer Evan Gurman). And you can get the book from me here or on Amazon (5 star reviews!) as a paperback or ebook.

Sharing ‘Hot Jewish Hanukkah’ at Hillel
This week, Michael invited me to join him in sharing our book with his peers at The New School Hillel. It tells the story of Hanukkah on a college campus, a decision we made before 10/7 that ended up being even more meaningful. In our version, students at Hillel face antisemitism by a new Greek president. They come together and decide to for their culture and be accepted on campus. The students at this NYC Hillel and students all over the country are fighting this battle (again) today and coming together, when they could easily hide their Jewish identity. I was so inspired by this group’s resiliency, unity, and Jewish pride. Below is an image from our book of Hillel coming together to fight back, and seeing art come to life in that room gave me the chills.

The director of Hillel New School reminded us that we are the light this Hanukkah. His words resonated with me as I saw my Pawnukkah drawing at a Value Culture party in SF, my sisters host Hanukkah parties in their homes (shoutout to George who made handmade dreidel piñata in Montreal), and when I ventured into the rain at the Grand Bazaar today because I knew it was important to represent.
