@ DIZZY‘S CLUB
Jazz at Lincoln Center
JULY 11-14
Plus June/July US Summer Tour
Starring:
Samson Schmitt, Ludovic Beier, Pierre Blanchard
Antonio Licusati and Francko Mehrstein

| The Django Festival Allstars return to the US and are delighted to grace the stage at Dizzy’s, Jazz@Lincoln Center, for the ‘first time’, as part of their US summer tour (See info below)
The Allstars continue to captivate audiences with their energetic and virtuosic performances and their take on the musical style of Django Reinhardt, ‘hot gypsy Jazz’, with ballads that will pull on your heart strings. It’s reminiscent of romantic Paris in the 20’s and 30’s when Django Reinhardt and famed Jazz Violinist Stephane Grappelli partnered to create The Hot Club Quintette …..the rest is history! The music is infectious, with a driving beat, full of swing ,melody, and joy! Samson Schmitt, a star of the sound, is the son of legendary Manouche gypsy Guitarist/ Violinist, Dorado Schmitt. He will lead with virtuosic player, Ludovic Beier on Accordion and Accordina. Pierre Blanchard, on Violin, fills Grappelli’s shoes with his own dynamic personality. On rhythm guitar, we have Francko Mehrstein, known across Europe as one of the best in the genre. Antonio Licusati on Bass brings a swinging ‘Jazz’ feel to the music. The program consists of originals by these very talented Composers, plus some of Django’s known standards. “Hardest swinging band at the Newport Jazz Festival.” -Downbeat Magazine “ The best show in town.” -Wall Street Journal
“Sensational.” -George Benson “The highpoint of the entire Playboy Festival was The Django Festival Allstars.” -Scott Yanow, LA Jazz Scene
The Django Festival Allstars are sure to send your foot tapping with smiles a mile long. |
