Traditional Eye Dotting Ceremony Brings Chinese Culture, Martial Arts and Community Together at Bella Abzug Park, New York, NY
The traditional Eye Dotting Ceremony is one of the most significant cultural events leading up to the Festival. Rooted in centuries-old Chinese tradition, the ceremony symbolizes awakening the spirit of the dragon, bringing prosperity, protection, good fortune, and success to the participating teams and surrounding community.
Media, elected officials, sponsors, community leaders, and invited guests will witness the ceremonial blessing of the dragon boats by Taoist priests from the Eastern United States Taoist Association of Flushing, followed by the traditional Eye Dotting ritual and photo opportunities with the dragon boats and festival participants.
The event will also feature a dynamic martial arts performance by the Praying Mantis Martial Arts Institute, one of New York City’s longest-standing traditional Chinese martial arts schools.

The 90th Annual Christmas Parade press conference was held at 9:00 a.m. on November 21 at the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. The press conference was attended by the State of California, Beverly Hills City Hall, the Marine Corps, major consulates and diplomatic envoys and major sponsors. The press conference was full of Chinese elements, with a giant panda pulling a carriage carrying Santa Claus as the U.S.-China joint mascot around the venue, and a lion dance and martial arts performance that brought the atmosphere to a climax.

90th Annual Christmas Parade Press Conference
The 90-year-old Hollywood Christmas Parade has a long history and reputation as one of the most influential parade events in the country, held on the last Sunday of November every year with hundreds of thousands of spectators. This year’s Hollywood Christmas Parade, in conjunction with the Family Movie Awards, will be broadcast internationally during the holiday season by the American Forces Network, a mainstream media outlet in the United States, and will air on The CW Network in primetime television on December 16 from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
