Fall is officially here in Manhattan and school is back in full swing.
Speaking of schools, let me know if yours is interested in a visit from your truly in either a classroom or parent setting. Last week, I met with the District 2 Middle School Leadership Conference, a very impressive group of young people who raised issues ranging from mental health to OMNY cards.
If your school has projects that need support, applications are now open for the Manhattan Borough President’s Community Award Program. This year, my office is offering reimbursement grants to Manhattan nonprofits and public schools doing important work in education and criminal justice. Applications are due Tuesday, October 27 at 5 PM, so don’t miss your chance to apply. You can start your application here.
October is Hispanic Heritage Month, and we’re celebrating at El Museo del Barrio with free admission to the first 300 guests on Thursday, October 15. Manhattan is home to some of the greatest cultural institutions in the world, including El Museo del Barrio, and every New Yorker should have the opportunity to experience them, right?
